Construction to Begin for State Road 77 Widening

Chipley, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin a $56 million construction project this month to widen a 3.5 mile section of State Road 77 to four lanes, from Rogers Road to Cane Mill Road, in Wausau. The project is aimed at increasing traffic capacity, improving safety and enhancing mobility.

Additional improvements will include new sidewalks and bicycle lanes, reconstructing adjacent intersections to improve traffic flow, stormwater enhancements for better drainage, and traffic signal and intelligent transportation system upgrades. The project is estimated for completion in summer 2027.

All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
